This is the view from just off of my front porch, out to the street and then on to the new, very beautiful yellow home they have been building for several months now. It's a custom home, not one of the builders homes and we'd kinda picked out the owner in a red truck. When that truck was there, you would see them in the yard cutting trees and walking around the house, over and over. LOL, I'm sure they are thrilled, they should be, it's a great house and probably the lot I would have chosen of all that have been cleared so far.
So yesterday, Sprocket and I went for our walk, which is the new paved road that runs along this new home. New Home Owner was there, surprisingly, during the day, during the week. NICE man, our age and of course, he was all over the dog and ALL over our bikes. He'd already spied us riding out from home. As I was talking to him, he tells me they have already been broken into. My heart sank. My biggest fear. They stole his new lawn tractor, tools and supplies on Valentines day night.
We've lived here for a little over 16 years and were broken into once, right after we moved in. I think it was some of the kids, as the things they took were very odd. One of the things I am SO very thankful for, by being able to work at home, is that I'm kind of a built in home alarm. I'm always here and if I am gone, it's not on a real schedule. It's hard to tell when I'll be here or not. With the recent turn in the economy and particularly in the transportation industry, the chances of me having to go to work in the outside world again are great.
I worry about leaving our home during the day. When New Neighbor was telling me about his robbery, my mind was completely harkened back to those feelings I had coming home and always looking for a broken lock.
Anyway, to end on a postive note, they are scheduled to move in next month. I haven't gotten to meet New Neighbor's wife yet, but he says she raises chiuahas and poodles. Oh. My. God. I do not need another dog, but at least I'll get to go over and cuddle the babies and leave them there. Sorta like grandbabies.

I think Sweetie sees me as a watchdog of sorts here too.
When you live out in the country there are no neighbours to notice if someone is breaking into a temp. empty house.
When I was a young teen, I was the lookout for the boys when they broke into this house that I now own. We stole booze then.
Helen, a watch dog, exactly. LOL!
Tina, I was talking to one of the builders down the road, he also had some stuff stolen. Oy!
Yay! Welcome back. I don't worry about people breaking into our house since we live in a typical suburban area. (Plus I'd be a little happy if some of the crap in our house went away. Working on that)
But I've always wondered if we live in a more secluded area what that would be like and would I worry about people breaking in. I probably watch too many movies :)
Cool that your new neighbors are nice ones. That trail is beautiful.
You know that's one really good thing about having a big dog. They make a nice little deterant (crap it's not spelt right. Oh well. No matter) Anyhow...they make it harder so it's not so much worth the while of risking limb and digits over to break in.
Damn, you moved too?!?!!?
That sucks. I was just ranting about the feelin of entitlement that people who steal have. It's wrong.
Lori, if they would promise to clean up and take some of this crap, I might give them a TV or something LOL.
Crabby...uh, that trail is our driveway.
TKW, good to see the top of your hat here. :))
