Progress in the Neighborhood

Progress

I've talked before about the building of houses out here in our area. When we first moved here 16 years ago, it was us and our Redneck Neighbor next door. (RN). And we kinda liked that.

This last year they have been building homes as fast as they can and are finally across the street from us. I've met one of the neighbors and he seems like a nice guy. This is all really ok with us, as this will help our property values and we have a lot of our retirement banking on the eventual sale of our home. So, bittersweet.

RN thinks this SUCKS. LOL

So badly so, he was totally bent out of shape and called the fire department on this contractor this weekend for burning. And then went to visit his insurance man on Monday to see about all the ash falling on his house. He cracks me up getting so bent out of shape. Entertainment for free. Deputy Dog.

Monday afternoon, as I drove out to pick up Little Kid from school, this blaze was still VERY much going. But now, our newest neighbor right across from this also has his big front yard all set on fire, clearing brush, trees and rubbish. I know RN had his hair standing on end. LMAO...

I'm with Redneck. Oh not that I'd turn the peeps in and all that, but in wanting to keep the building out.

I didn't know you were planning on selling the house. Hope that works out for you.

TIna?!?! You are are a redneck? ;)

No big plans right now, but we've always kinda thought we'd sell when Tyler goes off for college in a few more years. It's a giant house and I love it...but it'll just be the two of us. And only one of us likes to work in the yard and that one of us is getting old and fat LOL

I loved living out where we had few neighbors...so I might tend to agree with RN ....I love my neighbors now, but I like living on a few acres.

Totally agree Tommie, if I had my choice, all alone, FAR AWAY from anybody. He just cracks me up getting so bent out of shape over every single thing they do over there. Like Barney Fife LOL!

You can't stop progress.
Afterall your house was once a field where someone probably once hunted on and enjoyed!
You have got the right attitude though...
What choice ya got eh?

I can't stand the smell when people burn so I might have been upset too. Wouldn't have turned them in but, still upset. I am alwasy sad to see a woods turn into a housing development and my dad is a developer! You'd think I would get over it. Makes me wonder how many little animals are losing a home.

It kinda sucks that we all have to get along when we live so close.

So with all RN's ranting and turning in the developer, what did it get them? I mean nothing happened no doubt and all it did was get them aggravated. You might as well roll with the punches. And you know what, the developer will win every time anyway.

My sister had a developer build across from their home. Good news the developer built a street which is what they live on now. Bad news there really was not enough room to build a street and have nice enough lots so they allowed the street to be moved as close to their house as possible. This means there was not enough room to build a sidewalk. The city requires a sidewalk EVERYWHERE. But the builder got his way none the less no matter what they did with the city. You can not win. Why not just go with the flow. You will live longer and might get amused while you are at it.

My parents live out in the country and commented to me that "There goes the neighborhood" when the city decided to put an Elementary school down the street and put in public utilities. Now my Mom wants to move WAY out in rural Brazoria County.
