chicken snake
So, on Friday night, I was in the bed, me and the mutts, it was almost dusk and I was gazing out my new matchstick blinds that I really have grown to love cuz I can see outside. WHY OH WHY did I spend so many years shut up in that dark stuffy old bedroom??? Anyway, so I'm kinda drifting in and out of sleep, watching TV, enjoying the fan and watching out my windows at the sun setting. Totally lost in thought and relaxing.
Then.
All of a sudden.
I see a shadow on my patio window that is directly across from my bed. Yanno, I can lay in the bed and look out the patio window. Well, we have a ton of trees and the breeze has many many MANY times looked like various critters, people, and perverts lurking. So I kinda just blew it off and returned to my daydream state.
And then.
I see it again, moving at the top of the glass. THE. TOP. OF. THE. GLASS. PEOPLE. And then I recognize it as a snake, big lizard or some kind of crocodile.
Jumped out the bed, hesitated, thinking what if this bastard is on the INSIDE of this window?????? I focus my eyeballs the best I could and then realized it was indeed on the outside. RELIEF.
For a second anyway.
I get my glasses, my flashlight, my camera and MilkMan. Altho..I don't know why I needed MilkMan! ;)
Went out the patio door in the living room and sure as hell, a black snake, about a foot and a a half long, slithering along a lions head clay pot that hangs on the wall next to the patio door and then around the wood frame of the window and then his head, hanging down like some cartoon, looking into the window.
After I snapped a few pictures and identified it as a non poisonous chicken snake, I went and got my trusty, extended-handle webster duster I use for my fans. It is like ten feet long. Extended the handle and knocked him off of the wall and then turned him to go into the flower beds.
MilkMan wanted to kill it but I told him, my internet pal Gran will be pissed if we do. LOL, she fusses when we kill anything, spiders and snakes included.

I can tell you right now... I would have battled it and would have wound up with a ton of broken glass on the floor. ;)
I hate snakes! I think it is too hot for them here....at least i hope it is!
I'm glad your didn't kill the snake. They're an important part of the ecology. like they eat rodents.
LOL Denny!
Tommiea...I hope for you too. I think our wet spring has really brought them out.
SSN, that's easy for you to say WAY over there. ;)
Oh my gosh, so it was a pervert after all?
I am not conditioned to seeing snakes. Only happens once in a great while. I suppose with a 10 foot stick I could touch it but I would be worried when it hit the ground it would scurry in the wrong direction, my direction.
Might I add I love all the tools you gathered including "your camera." Way to fun.
LMAO! You crack me up. They're harmless. You can pick them up pretty easy if you just nab the goofy guy behind the head then support his body with your other hand. and then just put him back where he belongs.
But I'm proud as hell cause at least this time you didn't get your trusty shot gun out. You are evolving grasshopper. One day you'll be a bone fide fearless snake person!
Bar, I don't know if I could ever be conditioned to see snakes. They send me shrieking every damn time.
Crabby...yeah, those bitches bite!! YOU pick it up.
Yay....I'm on the 'good' PC upstairs, and it has Firefox...
I've been trying to comment on your blog for a week....
I'm glad you didn't kill that snake, but the venomous snakes I have no use for...
Great pics sweetie....Galen xox
That would be a freaky site. I'm glad most of our critter scurry on the ground, not at eye level.
daugter has been bugging me about a pretty corn snake. Now i know where to get my snake supply. If you happen to come acorss a "pretty pink snake with pretty pink eyes" let me know......I may be holding the key to our next household pet.
Oh fer Pete's sake! They can't bite ya, if you've got the back of their heads. Here...lemme show ya how.
I remember the first time I saw a chicken snake. They look like they're vicious. I was trying to get as far as possible from it...nearly tore the Boyfriend's clothes off trying to climb up on his shoulders.
I left mine where I found it...in Mississippi. That's still not far enough for me though.
